Christmas Reading Contest

I spent most of today making paper chain links. Over 200 this morning and my student assistant made even more this evening. Our Christmas Reading contest is for all ages. For young children they can put their name on a paper chain link for every book they read or have read to them. For children who read chapter books they get a link for every 25 pages they read. For young adults and adults they get a link for every 50 pages they read.

On December 20 we will pick links from our chain and those people will win prizes. It is a really good way to encourage people to read and to decorate our library for Christmas. Sometime before Christmas I will post a picture of our library with the paper chain link around it.

Last year we went around the library one and a half times. We are hoping we can go even more this year.

It was fairly busy in the library today. Lots of people used the computers and a number just stayed and read. It is cold, snowy and icy here in our town. The library is a good place to hole up and stay warm for a little while.

Welcome to our Blog!!!

We are so happy to be able to share our thoughts with you. Running a small town library has its share of joys as well as an abundance of challenges. We look forward to sharing a view of our library with you. We think we have the best little library in Alberta.

You can also visit our website at www.chinookarch.ca then go to Raymond in the list of libraries.
